2.3.12 & .14 plug-in

io intanto ho provato a installare la 2.3.14 su windows.
Avevo gia fatto pulizia perche volevo compilarla ma visto che c'era un installer ho deciso di provarlo.

Problemi

Una dll è mancante ...e crea una miriade di messaggi di errore 1 per ogni filtro di gimp...forse messaggio di errore non è la parola giusta...avete presente quegli avvertimenti che bloccano tutto se non premete okay...ecco quelli...un centinaio circa

Hi, I've the same problems during the gimp startup. Some dlls are missed e.g.:
- libgimp-2.0-0.dll
- libgimpui-2.0-0.dll
- libgimpbase-2.0-0.dll
- ...

I've installed:
- gtk+-2.10.6
- gimp-2.3.12
both for Windows.

Can you solve the problem or can you tell us how we can do it, please?

The dll's are there, they're just not being registered for some reason.

Check in your C:\<whereever>\gimp\bin directory, you'll see them.

How to register (or re-register) a DLL or OCX file

Go to the Run item on the Start menum, and type:

regsvr32 <path>

Thanks Brian for your answer, but is seems thats the dlls are not installable by using regsvr32. After copying the dlls in the system32 directory the gimp works.

Copying the dll's to system32 worked for me too. I found I had to add msvcrt10.dll and plugin.dll there also, for the Photoshop plugin pspi.exe to work. But everything appears to be working fine now.

Alternatively, you can add the path to the path enviroment variable for Windows.

To do this open the properties for My Computer -> Advanced tab -> Enviroment Vaariables button -> edit the "path" variable to include "C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin" (enteries are seperated by semi-colons).

thanks for the path hint. IMHO is the best way neither to copy the dlls to the system32 directory nor to add the bin directory permanently to the path but rather to add the bin directory temporary to the path.

Copy the following lines to text file and save it as gimp-start.bat or alike. On my environment it works fine.

I got this install to work.

I changed the shortcut icon on the desktop. Under the Shourtcut tab, I changed the "Start in" entry to "C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin".

Now the program goes.

yay.

Hello,

I used every 2.3.x and the latest gtk+ release together without any problems.

But any combination of preinstalled gtk+ 2.10.6, gimp-win 2.3.12 and the included gtk+, each try with a complete preceding uninstall, results in a crash during startup.

After complete uninstall and reinstall of gimp 2.3.11 now it crashes as well

I have the exact same problem. GIMP 2.3.12 crashes on start up.
I have completely uninstalled/re-installed several times - crash, crash, crash...
Has anyone with this problem found a resolution?

This could well be because the plugins etc. cannot fing the GIMP dll files.
One way to correct this is to add the following key to the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\gimp-2.3.exe

and set the value of the [Default] string to: C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin\gimp-2.3.exe
(or wherever the GIMP executable is actually located).

create a new string called [path] with value C:\Program Files\GIMP-2.0\bin
(for the path to the dll files)

I have the same problem... Gimp crashes at startup. I've tried gimp 2.3.12 and 2.3.14 with gtk 2.10.6 and 2.10.7. Gimp crashes in all events. I've also tried to add the key to registry and to del the folder in Documents and Settings. It didn't help.

P.S.: I use Windows 2003 Server. Can it be the reason?

First off, GTK is included in the GIMP 2.3.12 installation, so downloading and installing the GTK module isn't necessary.

Second, this issue has come up before, and several fixes have been offered, which have helped others. Fix #5 seems to be the best option:

NICO piu tardi apro linux e controllo...vuoi sapere solo la dimensione della cartella plugin?

PS certo che la GTK è maledettamente sensitiva a dll simili.

Pensavo di averle tolte tutte invece è riuscita a trovarne una in una carteliina
di MYMS che è una parte di MinGW (l'avevo per provare a compilare gimp) e ha voluto rinominarla durante l'install...

, ha funzionato almeno ora non ci sono piu messaggi di errore su dll avviando gimp

Pero aprendo l'immagine non si vede il menu per script fu,(in toolbox pero c'è)
e invece su linux ce l'ho...ora provo a controllare le cartelle plugin (per vedere se c'è scriptfu.exe ) e gli script (ma possibile che non ce ne sia nessuno indirizzato a image menu script-fu )

La mia installazione funziona. La soluzione giusta è quella che esponi nell'ultimo post.
Il problema non sta in gimp-2.3.exe ma in script-fu.exe che va a cercare le dll nel posto sbagliato e non riesce a caricare i plug-in.

Io ho dovuto aggiungere la chiave:

e vedrai comparire il menù "Script.fu anche nel menù "Immagine".

quanto agli script fu sto notando una cosa strana...forse perche vorrebbero eliminare il menu imagine -script fu (non quello toolbox) mi sembra che digli script che andavano li...ora hanno il path per il loro menu rimosso
(un po strano ma ne ho aperto 2 che andavano in image/script fu menu...e non vedo proprio dove sta la stringa del percorso...

sto provando a copiare la cartella script da linux (dove c'è il menu script fu) e a sostituirla

Prima ho provato ad linkare un'altra cartella di script...provocando un crash
(erano rimaste accese due instanze script fu exe che ho dovuto spengere da task manager e ovviamente ho dovuto poi spostare la cartellina.

Nel caso ti interessi in linux i plugin sono 28MG ...ma ovviamente sono codificati diversamente quindi non vuole dire molto...credo

Ce l'avevo, avendo inserito tra le cartelle degli script anche quella della versione 2.2 i cui script sono configurati per creare il menù. Ma dato che sono incompatibili li ho esclusi e adesso non ce l'ho più.
I menù nella finestra 'Immagine' si possono creare a piacimento basta inserirli negli script.

"Unsharp mask" in effetti non è configurato per apparire. Prova ad aggiungere in coda allo script

Si so come creare menu e sottomenu è facilissimo cambiare destinazione di qualsiasi cosa editabile con il bloc notes

Pero non capisco a che servono degli script senza un entrata in un menu ...se funzionano da console funzionano anche da menu...e se non funzionano che ci stanno a fare?...mah.
